Baby Black Rhino!

March 02, 2017

A trip to Kent this year won't disappoint you, we have so much to see and do close by, a fabulous coastline to explore, historic gardens, entertainment for the children and much more besides. It's no wonder Kent was voted Europe'stop family holiday destination in 2015 by Lonely Planet. Today I've decided to pick out three local attractions our guests have enjoyed in the past and are definitely worth a visit, but honestly, I could write for a week and not cover everything that's available.

Christmas is a' coming...

November 08, 2016

and the goose is getting fat, not to mention the gangs of Pheasants that are currently roaming the farm! Autumn has gathered pace in the last week or so and the trees on the farm are probably now at their peak for colour. We've had a few misty mornings and a couple of frosty ones but all things considered its been perfect weather for people to enjoy a long weekend in the country. In both cottages this week, we have guests who wanted to get away from the fireworks where they live and they've thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet.

A merry note, as William Shakespeare once wrote. Barn Owls, Little Owls and Tawny Owls are all resident on the farm and are regularly being spotted by our guests, to their great enjoyment.

The Barn Owls (our absolute favourite) have had a another successful season, managing to rear two owlets in the hay barn. Late evening or very early morning are the best times to spot them hunting along the hedgerows and over the long grass. The Little Owls are also doing better than ever, such a bold and cheeky personality, it really does bring a smile to your face if you get to see them close up.

Lambs Ahoy!!!

April 01, 2016

It's Spring time, lambing is in full swing and our first guests of the new season have just settled in! It feels good to finally start welcoming people to the farm after what seems like a long time completing renovations, making little improvements and generally ensuring both of the cottages are spick and span. We hope everybody approves of all our hard work but most of all, enjoys their stay!

Take a Break this Autumn / Winter...

October 21, 2015

There are lots of reasons why Kent and East Sussex are great regions to visit in the Autumn and we thought it was time we detailed a few of the things to do this November / December.

Bonfire Night Celebrations are already well underway, with each town competing to put on the best display! Guy Fawkes is said to have sourced his gunpowder from the Battle powder mills and the 7th of Nov is the date for this years spectacular - why not spend the afternoon exploring the famous Abbey or enjoying a Cream Tea before the main event? The 'Rye Fawkes' celebration (14th Nov) is only 10 minutes from the farm in the ancient Cinque Port town of Rye and features a dramatic torchlit procession, a fire breathing dragon and of course, spectacular fireworks display.
